Our Lady of Guadalupe

"I am your merciful Mother, the Mother of all who love me, of those who cry to me, of those who have confidence in me...

"Am I not here, I who am your Mother?  Are you not under the shadow of my protection?  Am I not under your fountain of life?  Are you not in the folds of my mantle?  In the crossing of my arms?  Is there anything else you need?"

Words of Our Lady of Guadalupe to Saint Juan Diego, 1531

About YOUTH 2000

YOUTH 2000 is an international spiritual initiative. Begun in 1990, YOUTH 2000 is a response to the challenge of the late Pope John Paul II given to the young people at World Youth Day in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, to "become shining heralds of the reevangelization and generous architects of the civilization of love." Filled with zeal and eager to commit to the challenge, young people took seriously this call to a decade of evangelization.

At World Youth Day in Rome in 2000, Pope John Paul II once again challenged the young people: "Set the Eucharist at the center of your personal life and community life: love the Eucharist, adore the Eucharist, and celebrate the Eucharist..."

At the beginning of the new millennium, YOUTH 2000 continues to accept the challenge of the late Pope John Paul II and to continues to answer the challenge given by Pope Benedict XVI.  The exhortations by the Holy Father confirm the goals and mission of YOUTH 2000 to promote a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through love and devotion to the Eucharist, thus drawing young people into the service of the Catholic Church.

SPIRITUALITY OF YOUTH 2000

The charism of YOUTH 2000 is to lead young people, through prayer and instruction before the Blessed Sacrament, to a personal encounter and ever-deepening union of heart and mind with the Eucharasitic Heart of Jesus Christ.

GOALS OF YOUTH 2000

  • To promote devotion to Jesus in the Holy Eucharist through a worldwide network of youth gathered in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament
  • To promote a devotion to Mary, the Virgin Mother of God, especially through the Rosary
  • To promote fidelity to the teachings of the Catholic Church and the Magisterium

YOUTH 2000's home is in England and it is well established in Scotland, Germany, Austria, Ireland, and the United States. In June of 1992, the first YOUTH 2000 was held in the United States and since then has spread to many areas of our Country. YOUTH 2000 was given the honor to share the responsibility for Eucharistic Adoration during the visit of Pope John Paul II to Denver, Colorado for World Youth Day, August 11-15,1993.
